House fire at Leighton Road in Dover being treated as suspicious by police

A house fire in which two people had to be led to safety is being treated as suspicious.

Police now want witnesses.

Crews in two fire engines were called to the property on Leighton Road, Dover, just after 3am on Saturday and arrived within three minutes of receiving the 999 call.

They used a hose reel jet and foam to extinguish the blaze.

Two people were led to safety by firefighters and checked by paramedics as a precaution while four others were assessed at the scene.

A Kent Police spokesman today (Tuesday) said: “We are investigating a report of a fire in rubbish bins by the property.

“The house was also damaged.

“The cause of the fire is being treated as suspicious and officers are asking for any witnesses or anyone with information to contact Kent Police.”
