Dover Athletic chairman Jim Parmenter says only an extraordinary offer from Football League would get him into talks over Ricky Miller sale

Jim Parmenter remains bullish about the prospects of keeping hot-shot Ricky Miller this month, saying ‘it would take an extraordinary offer’ to even get him to the negotiating table.

Miller’s goal in the 4-1 win at Maidstone on Sunday night was his 28th of the season and his 24th in the National League - seven more than any other player in the division - having scored 20 league goals last season.

The 27-year-old has been linked with the likes of League 1 Peterborough aswell as National League promotion-chasers Lincoln and Forest Green during the January transfer window.

Whites chairman Mr Parmenter and the Dover board must weigh-up whether to cash-in on their prized asset now, knowing the former Luton striker could leave for free when his contract is up at the end of the season, or hope if they resist outside interest then his goals will help them return to the play-offs and potentially help ensure promotion to the Football League.

Mr Parmenter reiterated: “None of our players are for sale in January. It would take an extraordinary offer for Ricky Miller being submitted to even trigger discussions about a transfer.

“We have received no sensible offers for him and I have had no contact from any club outside the National League.

"I previously released a statement saying that we would not sell him to anyone other than an established Football League club and that remains the case.”

Dover rose to fifth in the table with after the Kent derby win and Mr Parmenter claimed: “It’s been a pretty good couple of weeks for us and we are back in the play-off places.

“Keeping hold of Ricky Miller would not only help in our attempts to get back into the play-offs at the end of the season but also helps us in our attempts to attract new players.

“We are looking at two or three potential signings of our own to strengthen us in January.”

The first new face at Crabble is utility man James Hurst, 24, who came through West Brom's academy and was previously with National League North side Telford having also played in the National League for Torquay and Guiseley.

Hurst - who can play out wide or behind the striker - has had loan spells at Shrewsbury and also played for Birmingham, Crawley and Northampton.
