Dover looking to bolster defence ahead of York test, admits boss Chris Kinnear

Chris Kinnear is keen to add defensive cover to his Dover squad in time for Whites’ trip to York on Saturday.

Centre-back Richard Orlu was forced off with a hamstring injury in Tuesday night’s 2-0 defeat at Dagenham & Redbridge – the first of two away games against sides relegated from League 2 last year in four days.

With Tyrone Sterling the only other option, Kinnear said: “We are looking to improve the squad and have to get on with it. We’re looking at players in all leagues.”

The trip to Bootham Crescent was daunting enough as the hosts have only conceded two goals in five home games, from which they have taken 11 points.

Kinnear admitted: “It certainly is going to be tough. There are bigger clubs this year than there were last year. A lot of ex-league clubs.

"It won’t be easy but the lads have got to shake themselves down after Tuesday.”
