Dover Athletic boss Chris Kinnear happy with instant impact of Keanu Marsh-Brown

Chris Kinnear hailed the impact new loan signing Keanu Marsh-Brown in Dover's win against Macclesfield Town.

The winger, who joined on loan from Forest Green Rovers this week, scored twice as Whites beat the National League leaders 2-0.

Dover cemented their position in the play-off places and have a four point cushion over AFC Fylde in eighth.

Kinnear said: “We have been trying to get him for a while as we know he’s a class player.

“His motivation is to try and get another promotion and that will only help us.

“There was a lot of former league clubs who wanted him but we built up a relationship with him and his agent.

“What a great start to sign somebody and for him to score two goals on debut.”

Whites have won their last three games and just two points separate Boreham Wood in third and Dover in seventh.

They managed to restrict Macclesfield to few chances and it was only their second defeat in 18 games.

Kinnear said: “They are a good side but we were able to restrict their chances. We have got the three points and have to start looking ahead to the next game at Barrow.

“There is still a long way to go and we have to keep going. There is a good spirit with the lads and hopefully we can keep going.

“Who knows what will happen at the end of the season, we are going to have a few downs before that, but today was a good performance on a miserable day.”

This was the first match Ryan Bird has not started all season as Chris Kinnear favoured to start loanee Adebayo Azeez through the middle with Marsh-Brown also starting.

Kinnear added: “It was a tactical decision but he probably has never played so many consecutive games.

“He probably needs a bit of a rest, he’s our top goalscorer by a long way and hopefully he will be back refreshed and make the most of it.”
