Dover Athletic midfielder Chris Kinnear jnr raring to get back into the thick of the action after missing start of Vanarama National League season

Chris Kinnear jnr is not going to change the way he plays.

Not even missing the first five games of the season through injury is going to make the tenacious midfielder take a backward step in a game.

Kinnear has been out of action since picking up an ankle injury while making a tackle in the pre-season friendly against Greenwich Borough on July 22.

It was originally thought that he had damaged ligaments but an X-ray later revealed a slight fracture.

Now he’s on the mend and looking forward to getting stuck in’again.

Kinnear said: “I give it my all in every game regardless if it is a friendly or a league match. I always have and that will never change.

“I always do things wholeheartedly – there’s no point doing it any other way.”

But how is Kinnear finding it being a spectator, rather than out there in the middle of the action?

He said: “I have got to be the worst spectator.

“I live each minute of the game as though I was playing in it – I am a nightmare to sit next to, according to those I do.”

Kinnear will have to wait a little while longer before he can resume playing.

He said: “Hopefully, I can start back training at the end of next week and go from
there.

“I’d like to think I might come into consideration a couple weeks after that if all goes well.”
