Dover Athletic manager Chris Kinnear previews National League visit of Wrexham

Chris Kinnear admits Dover will have their work cut out to maintain their superb National League form against Saturday's visitors Wrexham.

Whites have won three and drawn three of the six games between the sides following their promotion from National League South, conceding just three goals in that spell.

However the ambitious former Football League side have splashed the cash this summer and among their swathe of more than a dozen new signings are forward Chris Holroyd and midfielder James Hurst who finished last season at Dover.

New-look Dover themselves began the season with a superb 1-0 at win at newly-relegated Hartlepool but spurned a glut of chances to make it two wins from two as they slipped to a 2-1 derby reverse against Bromley at Crabble on Tuesday.

Kinnear admitted: "I think Wrexham are one of the favourites for promotion this season, they have signed some big players.

"It's not going to be easy but our lads create chances and if you can create chances then you have got a chance.

"There is a little bit of a learning curve because most of them are new and most of them are very young but we could and possibly should have won the game on Tuesday.

"That's what happens in football, that's what makes it so exciting. We deserved to win at Hartlepool, it wasn't a fluke, on Tuesday we had even more chances.

"It's going to be a hard old league year, it looks a lot stronger, we just have to be one of the sides to work hard and be up there."

Skipper Mitch Brundle will be assessed after sustaining a knee in the back which eventually forced him off on Tuesday night.

Kinnear meanwhile has not ruled out further arrivals to bolster a squad which has retained just three senior faces from last season.

He claimed: "Of course we are looking to add strength to the squad. We need a little more experience and a couple of lads to come in at least. We haven't just said we're happy with that, we're trying to improve what we've got, even though it is exciting to watch us.

"It's good stuff but you've got to win games and the little bit of experience Bromley had at the back did help them out even though they were under the kosh for most of the game."

He added: "We're talking to loads of agents. It's part of football. Nothing happens and then all of a sudden you might sign two. We've just to keep looking out for players and trying to improve."
