Dover Athletic manager Chris Kinnear previews the trip to Wrexham in the National League

Dover will be hoping to continue their impressive sequence against Wrexham when they travel to the Racecourse Ground on Saturday.

Chris Kinnear’s side are unbeaten in seven games against the Dragons since winning promotion to the National League.

The run includes four wins and three draws, with Ryan Bird’s first-half effort enough to secure a home win at Crabble in August.

Only one place and one point separates the sides in the table – Wrexham are third and Whites fourth – and boss Kinnear said: “It’s not going to be easy. They got beaten in the Trophy (Wrexham lost 2-0 at home to Harrogate) but they invested in a lot of players in the summer.

“They had all theirs signed up early. Where we had one, they had 15 signed and what a club they are – the third biggest in Wales.

"The ground, they used to play internationals there, they’re a big club but that doesn’t mean you can’t beat teams like that and we always tend to do quite well against Wrexham for some reason. Hopefully, we can continue that.”

Saturday’s 3-0 FA Trophy win over Eastbourne came on the back on a 4-0 home league win against Hartlepool and Kinnear says he was always confident Whites would turn things around after a four-game winless run.

He added: “A few people questioned us saying you haven’t won for a few games. That can happen but because the players have got ambition and are part of a successful team, you’re going to come out of it.

“When things aren’t going right – and it happens during a season – they just dig in and try to help their mates out.”

For the trip to Wales, Kinnear will need to take a check on defender Ejiro Okosieme who came off with an ankle injury against Eastbourne.

Josh Passley was due to have the plaster cast removed from his injured arm this week and could return.
