Seafront clocktower will be moved

One of Dover’s best known landmarks – the seafront clocktower – will be moved as part of the Western Docks redevelopment plans.
News of the proposed move was confirmed to the Dover Mercury this week as part of a scheme to create a new pier to replace the Prince of Wales Pier – set to be lost to make way for three of the four new ferry berths.
Exactly where the clocktower is to be re-positioned has not yet been decided.
A spokeswoman for Dover Harbour Board said: “We are discussing with various regulators, particularly English Heritage, the relocation of the clocktower so that it remains at the entry to the new pier.
“The proposed location is still being discussed and will be subject to further consultation.”
