Lorry driver arrested after woman seriously injured in A2 crash in Dover

A woman, believed to be from Deal, is fighting for her life
after a crash on the A2 at Guston, near Dover.
A lorry driver has been arrested after the crash, between the
A258 Duke of York’s roundabout and the A256 junction for the Eastry
bypass to Sandwich.
The woman was flown to a London hospital after the crash,
between an HGV and two cars yesterday afternoon.
She remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition today
after suffering injuries described as life-threatening. Three other
people were taken to Ashford’s William Harvey Hospital with
minor injuries.
The lorry driver has been arrested in connection with the crash
and released on bail until May 7 pending further
inquiries.
Emergency services, including two air ambulances, were called to
the smash at about 2.10pm.

That section of the A2 was closed in both directions for more
than six hours while crash investigators worked at the scene.
The crash involved a white lorry with green markings, a silver
Skoda and a silver Alfa.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service crews worked to rescue some of the
vehicle occupants and two air ambulances landed at the
scene.
Police are keen to speak to the driver of a
vehicle travelling in front of the lorry before the crash.
Insp Martin Stevens, from the Kent Police Serious
Collision Investigation Unit, said: "Thank you to everyone who has
contacted us with information about this incident. I'd urge anyone
else who may have information that could help with our enquiries to
contact us.
"We are particularly keen to speak with the driver of an unknown
car who was travelling in front of the lorry before the collision
as they may have information which could help with our
investigation."
