Cannabis was found on an upper floor of this building opposite the police station
A cannabis factory has been discovered in Dover town centre - right opposite the police station.
It is thought the drugs - with a street value of several thousand pounds - might have been growing in the Park Place property for several years.
But the alarm was only raised when someone walking past noticed the front door of an empty property was insecure and called police.
Officers who went to find out why the door was open are understood to have searched the ground floor before going to the first floor and discovering what they describe as "the remains of a cannabis factory".
"Around 145 cannabis plants were found growing," said a Kent Police spokesman.
"A number of items associated with cultivating cannabis were also seized. No one has been arrested and our enquiries are continuing."
