P&O Ferries Workplace Choir pictured at Sunday's concert
P&O Ferries' Workplace Choir gave its first public performance on Sunday since winning the BBC2 show Sing While You Work: The Choir.
The choir, led by musical director Hilary Campbell, performed as special guests in support of the White Cliff Symphonic Wind band at Dover Town Hall. All 400 tickets were sold out days in advance for the show, which raised more than £1,500 for Dover Home-Start, a charity which supports families through periods of stress.
To rapturous applause from the audience, the choir sang five songs - Lean on Me, Sing, Sinnerman, Fix You and Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.
White Cliff Symphonic Band musical director Graham Harvey told the audience: “It is fantastic that we have got a famous choir from Dover.”
The WCSW band performed a wide selection of pieces, including big band tunes, Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody and Bach’s Toccata in D Minor.
This week’s East Kent Mercury and Dover Mercury will have a two-page picture feature on the concert, with lots of pictures.
