Dover Athletic boss Nicky Forster plays down title talk
By Kevin Redsull
Dover Athletic manager Nicky
Forster has moved quickly to play down comments from Whites fans
that the chase for the Blue Square Bet South title has now
developed into a three-horse race.
With the top three teams all
winning last Saturday – including a 2-0 success for Dover over
Eastleigh at Crabble – they have opened up a 10-point gap over the
three clubs in joint fourth place.
But Forster, whose side have
now won five successive matches, insisted: "It would be
disrespectful of the other teams and also complacent on our part,
to think that is the case, especially as Boreham Wood and
Chelmsford (two of the teams in joint fourth) have three matches in
hand on us."
Forster
(pictured) added: "We have just got to keep putting points on
the board, which is something we are doing well at the
moment.
"Let’s be honest, we are a team in form and playing well,
third in the league and two points off the top spot and we should
enjoy these moments."
Whites will bid to extend
their year-long unbeaten away record on Sunday when they take on
Hayes & Yeading.
The match has had to be put
back 24 hours to Sunday because Hayes & Yeading groundshare
with Woking, who are hosting Welling United in an FA Trophy tie on
Saturday.
