Dover Athletic to appeal against Ricky Modeste's red card against Eastleigh
By Kevin Redsull
Dover Athletic have decided
to appeal over the red card given to Ricky Modeste against Blue
Square Bet South rivals Eastleigh on Saturday.
The striker (pictured) was
dismissed in the second half at Crabble for a tackle on Eastleigh’s
Damian Scannell, but Whites boss Nicky Forster said: "We’ve looked
at the video a number of times and Ricky’s feet don’t leave the
ground when he tackles, so we think it’s worth the
appeal.
"There is the case that if
you appeal and lose and they consider the appeal to have been
frivolous, then they can add on an extra game but we don’t feel we
will be wasting their time so we hope that won’t happen even if the
appeal is unsuccessful."
The decision to appeal
Modeste’s red card means that new boy Moses Ademola will probably
have to wait a little longer for his first start in a Whites’
shirt.
Dover are away to Hayes and Yeading on Sunday and Forster
added: "Moses came on as a substitute at Billericay and Truro and
looked good but, by his own admission, he’s not quite up to match
pace yet and, along with people like Steve Watt, Calum Willock and
Terry Dixon, he might have to be patient because the team are in
good form at the moment."
