Dover Athletic winger Ricky Modeste wins appeal against his straight red card

Ricky Modeste

By Kevin Redsull

Dover Athletic winger Ricky Modeste won his appeal against his straight red card for a dangerous tackle during the home win over Eastleigh a fortnight ago.

It means the wide player (pictured) will be available to face Hornchurch on Saturday and Tonbridge at Longmead on Boxing Day, but he will serve a one-match suspension in the home game against the Angels on New Year’s Day after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season at Hayes & Yeading last Saturday.

Forster was delighted to receive a call from chairman Jim Parmenter on Tuesday informing him that Modeste’s appeal had been successful and the Whites manager also provided some encouraging news himself regarding Ian Simpemba’s knee injury.

He said: "Ian’s probably not quite ready to come back into full training yet but he’s not far away and otherwise as far as I know, everybody else is fit and looking forward to the Christmas programme."
