Danny Herriott selected for England under-20s suqad to face Scotland in Six Nations Championship
by Kevin Redsull
Danny Herriott has received a late call-up into the England
Under-20 rugby union squad for their opening match in this season’s
Six Nations Championship against Scotland at Plymouth on
Friday.
The 19-year-old former Deal & Betteshanger prop forward, who
is now a professional with Northampton Saints’ Academy, was omitted
from the initial 32-man squad when it was announced three weeks ago
but has now been added to the group by England head coach Rob
Hunter and will be on the bench against the Scots.
Herriott (pictured) said: “Rob came to watch our Aviva A League
semi-final against Saracens last month and I must have done OK
because he has now asked me to join the squad.”
He will be hoping to help England to retain their Under-20 Six
Nations crown, starting with the clash against Scotland which is
being televised live by Sky Sports (5.45pm).
The former Castle Community College student has been playing for
RFU Championship side Moseley in recent weeks under a dual
registration loan agreement with Premiership Northampton.
Herriott has only made one senior appearance for Northampton but
expects to sign a new contract before his current deal expires in
the summer.
