Dover Athletic’s young squad start 2014 still fighting for silverware in Skrill South, the FA Trophy and the Kent Senior Cup
Dover Athletic’s young squad start 2014 still fighting for silverware on three fronts.
The Skrill South play-off places moved within range for the Whites on Saturday when they won 2-0 at Ebbsfleet United.
Chris Kinnear’s side travel to Eastleigh in the FA Trophy third round on January 11, before taking on Dartford in the quarter-finals of the Kent Senior Cup.
The Whites boss said: "We got to the second round of the FA Cup against MK Dons. The two games after that were a little bit 'after the Lord Mayor’s Show' but the players have got on with it since then.
"They didn’t feel sorry for themselves and hopefully we’ll push on from here. We’re still in the FA Trophy and the Kent Senior Cup, so the only thing we’re out of is the FA Cup.
"The squad we’ve got is decent but if we can add, we will. We’ve just got to keep progressing. I don’t think people realise that we’ve got a lot of lads under 24.
"We can’t do it all too quick, because you end up going up and coming straight down. They’ve all got two-year contracts so they’re going to be with us, we’ve just got to keep adding to that and using the experience of the likes of Nathan Elder."
Dover continue their promotion push with home games against Bishop's Stortford on Saturday and Sutton United on Tuesday.
