Dover Athletic manager Chris Kinnear believes former Chelmsford striker Jeff Goulding could be the man to fire Whites into the Skrill South play-offs
New signing Jeff Goulding showed he could be the man to fire Dover to the Skrill South play-offs after a debut hat-trick.
Goulding’s treble helped Whites win 4-0 at Dorchester last weekend and saw them close to within two points of the top five.
Boss Chris Kinnear praised the striker’s impact in his first appearance since joining from league rivals Chelmsford.
Kinnear said: “You never know, he could be the difference in helping us reach the play-offs. You do your homework on any new signing but it’s always a surprise when someone comes in and scores a hat-trick on their debut.
“It’s the third time we’ve scored four goals away from home this season.
“We’re a team who create a lot of chances and Jeff was there to finish them off.
“He holds the ball up and passes it but you want your forwards to score goals as that’s what they’re there for."
Kinnear visit Boreham Wood on Saturday without suspended striker Nathan Elder.
Another away win will keep them nicely in the play-off picture but there’s no pressure on the side to go up.
Kinnear added: “We’ll try to get up if we can this season but we’re building for the long term and you wouldn’t want to go up and come straight back down."
