Staines Town 2 Dover Athletic 2
Dover Athletic battled back from a 2-0 half-time deficit to earn a point at Staines Town in Skrill South on Saturday.
Whites ended a run of three straight defeats but fell eight points behind the play-off places, sitting 12th - though they retain games in hand on many of their rivals.
Staines started the day below Dover on goal-difference but took the lead after seven minutes when Louie Theophanous applied the finishing touch from close range after a break down Whites’ left.
It was 2-0 just after the half-hour as more slack defending from Chris Kinnear’s side allowed Theophanous time to beat Mitch Walker for a second time.
The goal seemed to spark the visitors into life and they bossed the final 10 minutes of the first half and continued to press after the turnaround, taking just six minutes of the second half to level through Nathan Elder, who fired home after an excellent turn following a good run and pass from Tom Murphy.
The equaliser arrived 12 minutes from time when Elder was given the benefit of the doubt by the referee under pressure in the box, with Whites being handed a penalty which Barry Cogan fired home to make it 10 points from their last five league games on the road.
