MOD’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal team called after 'World War II' bomb was found at farmland in Dunkirk, Faversham

Bomb disposal experts were called in to detonate what was thought to be a World War II shell discovered on farmland.

Kent police were initially called yesterday afternoon by a member of the public following the discover on private land in Dunkirk, near Faversham.

Officers contacted the Ministry of Defence who sent in their bomb disposal team.

A Kent police spokesman said: “While on patrol in the Dunkirk area yesterday afternoon, Kent Police officers were alerted to the presence of a shell-like object on private land.

“The MOD’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was contacted and attended an area near Gate Hill and safely destroyed the object.”
