A GP at Faversham's Newton Place Surgery injured in serious accident

Emergency crews saved the life of a popular Faversham GP after he was seriously hurt in an accident at the weekend.

Dr Simon Wyeth (pictured), a partner at Newton Place Surgery, required surgery after the accident, but details of the circumstances have not been released.

The 55-year-old has been a doctor at the practice in Newton Road for more than 20 years.

His family said: “We’re eternally grateful to the emergency services for their prompt response. Their efficiency and professionalism almost certainly saved his life.

"Our thanks must also go to the trauma team at the William Harvey Hospital and the surgical team at the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead.”

Dr Alastair Gould, a partner at the surgery, added: “We would like to reassure patients that Dr Wyeth is doing well after his accident and we will be doing all that we can to ensure that any disruption to services is kept to a minimum.

"We would ask that everyone respect’s Dr Wyeth’s need for privacy during his recovery.”
