TV star lookalike raises thousands for good cause

A Faversham man has snipped off his long curls and transformed himself into infamous TV drugs kingpin Heisenberg.

Taking inspiration from the hit show Breaking Bad, Patrick Kennedy-Sanigar, 57, has raised more than £1,500 for Movember and in turn become a double for the show’s notorious star character Walter White, whose alias is Heisenberg.

The dad-of-three, who owns Space Shuffle Design at Brogdale, was inspired to raise money after his brother Kevin died after becoming a victim of prostate cancer at just 53.

Patrick said: “In the television series Breaking Bad, Walter White has cancer and, following chemotherapy, loses his hair.

“For this challenge, my ethos is that those that have chemo lose their hair and my shaved head would raise awareness of what Movember is all about.

“The only difference is my hair is guaranteed to grow back.”

Patrick says he has even had strangers call out “Heisenberg” in the street but is looking forward to having his moustache shaved off later this week.

He has set himself targets throughout the month, cutting off more of his long tresses as he reached each milestone – and by the time he reached £1,000, the clippers were out ready for a grade one.

New Whitstable shop the Butcher of Brogdale even offered Patrick an extra £250 if he painted his head purple to match their new colour scheme.

Patrick said: “It feels very different to have hair this short – it’s really cold! It’s been a long while since I had hair this short.

“But I’m absolutely thrilled to have raised the money for Movember and looking forward to next year already.”

“This has been an awesome campaign and people have been so generous.”

Patrick has raised £1,570 so far and is ranked at number 160 on the country’s “Mo leaderboard”.

Movember is an international fundraiser which is committed to changing the face of men’s health.

It has raised £346 million for improvements for the lives of men affected by prostate and testicular cancer, as well as mental health problems.
