Farm manager Ian Wall killed by falling tree in Painter's Forstal Road, Faversham

A man killed yesterday by a falling tree he was cutting down has been named as farm manager Ian Wall.

The 52-year-old dad died on land off Painter's Forstal Road, Faversham, shortly after 12.15pm

Mr Wall lived in Painter's Forstal Road and worked for AC Goatham & Son, who today issued a statement saying the death was not related to his work.

Clive and Ross Goatham said: "The family and team at AC Goatham & Son are very saddened to hear of the death of our much-loved colleague and friend Ian Wall who died in tragic circumstances over the weekend.

"Ian had worked with us for the past two years and was our farm manager.

"He was very much part of the AC Goatham & Son family and will be deeply missed by all the team here. Our sincere condolences go to his family and friends."

The air ambulance and three land ambulances were sent to the scene at 12.15pm, but attempts to revive Mr Wall were unsuccessful.

Police described the incident as an "industrial accident" and it is being investigated by the Health and Safety Executive.
