Navy bomb disposal unit called out to Oare Marshes near Faversham to detonate shells.

A specialist bomb unit have been called out to Oare Marshes to detonate a number of shells.

The Navy bomb disposal team are currently at Harty Ferry, near Faversham, preparing to take the five shells out to sea to explode them.

They were spotted by Faversham fisherman Mark Hamilton who was out dredging oysters in the Swale yesterday.

Mark said: "It is not the first time we have found them out in the Swale. There seems to be loads out there.

"We were out dredging for oysters when we discovered them. We alerted the coastguard straight away."

Mr Hamilton featured in the Faversham News a few months ago when unexploded bombs were found on his mantlepiece.
