Daniel Pilcher of Fostall Road was charged with burglary, trespassing on land with a firearm and threatening behaviour.

Landlord of the pub Derek Coles had been enjoying his breakfast with his family when he saw a figure lingering outside.

He said: "Something like this has never happened before so we really didn't know what to do and it was incredibly frightening for my grandchildren."

Mr Pilcher was bailed to attend Maidstone Magistrates Court on September 1.
