Faversham boss Ray Turner insists he feels no bitterness that his side’s potentially record-breaking season could yet all be for nothing.

Victory at Redhill on Saturday would see Town equal their highest-ever points total in Ryman League Division 1 South (77) with 10 games still to play.

That tally was set in 2012/13 when the Lilywhites finished third behind champions Dulwich, who amassed 89 points, and Maidstone, who eventually beat them in the play-off final.

Despite vastly improved form this year, their achievements are again being overshadowed in the promotion race.

Unbeaten leaders Burgess Hill are seven points clear of Town with four games in hand.

Turner admitted: "We are focusing on that second spot. We have to be realistic, they just have too many games in hand.

"They are unbeaten in 31 games and we’d need them to lose five or six of their remaining games to even make it interesting.

"It’s been very difficult this season but the situation has long been out of our hands.

"I am not bitter. You can’t survive in this game being bitter. You can’t look at it like that. You’ve got to applaud what they have done."

Dave Botterill is the only absentee at Redhill as he serves the final game of his three-match ban.
