Firefighters called out to four bin fires and a car fire in one night in Folkestone

Firefighters in Folkestone had a busy night after they were called to five incidents in a short space of time.

Kent Fire and Rescue Crew from the Folkestone station were called out to four incidents involving bins on fire, and one car alight in the early hours of this morning.

Crew members were called firstly to Cheriton Road just before 1am to put out a couple of wheelie bins which were alight.

At 1.21am, crew were called to New Street to extinguish a bin on fire.

Firefighters were then called to Tontine Street at 1.24am to put out another bin which was alight, and just before 1.30am, they were called to attend three large wheelie bins ablaze at the rear of Missenden Court.

Just before 1.45am, crews were called to extinguish a car on fire in Foord Road South.

Kent Police also attended this particular incident. A spokesman said: "Kent Police received a report of a car alight at 1.44am on Sunday October 30 2016.

"Officers and KFRS attended the scene in Foord Road South, Folkestone.

"Enquiries into the cause are ongoing."

There were no injuries reported from any of the incidents, which were all put out with hose reels.

It is not known whether any of the incidents are linked.
