Car crashes on M20 between Channel Tunnel terminal and Cheriton junction near Folkestone

A car has spun into the barriers on the M20 adding to motorway delays near Folkestone this morning.

Emergency services were called just after 10am to the crash near to junction 11a exit for the Channel Tunnel terminal.

A silver Mercedes crashed into the barriers of the central reservation of the coastbound carriageway.

Traffic is passing the scene while recovery of the car takes place after two lanes were reopened shortly before 11am.

But Highways England says one lane will remain closed as the car is unable to be removed.

A specialist recovery team is being brought in to remove the car.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police were called at 10.12am on Monday, August 24 after a silver Mercedes spun and hit the central reservation.

"No other vehicles were involved and no one was seriously injured. The lane was cleared around 11.50am."

Motorists are being warned of further delays around the Channel Tunnel as freight services are delayed following an incident in the tunnel.
