Train hits object between Folkestone Central and Dover Priory

A train has hit a discarded bicycle between Folkestone Central and Dover Priory.

The service was unable to continue leaving 34 people stranded, with disruption due to continue long into the evening.

Response staff were sent to the scene near Dover to make repairs to enable to the train to move.

Trains between Folkestone and Dover were cancelled and other services through Dover may be delayed, revised or cancelled at short notice.

Replacement bus services were to be laid on between Ashford and Dover.

Southeastern said Faversham and Dover and Ramsgate and Dover routes were also likely to be impacted.

The company said disruption was likely until 9.30pm.
