Folkestone firefighters tackle car fire in Stone Street and skip blaze in Sandgate High Street

A car has been left completely destroyed by fire.

Fire crews from Folkestone were called to Stone Street at around 10pm last night following reports a Vauxhall Zafira was alight.

It is understood the owner was driving when a fire started due to a fault in the engine.

The flames ripped through the vehicle, completely destroying it.

Firefighters were at the scene for around 50 minutes extinguishing the blaze and making the area safe.

The car was recovered shortly after.

No injuries were reported.

Fire crews from Folkestone were also called to Sandgate High Street at around midnight after a builder's skip caught alight.

The blaze started inside the container, which was full of building material.

The cause of the fire is not known.
