Police investigate child 'abduction bid' claims in Garden Road area of Folkestone

Police have carried out a search in Folkestone after reports of a man approaching children in the street.

Officers were called to Garden Road at 9pm yesterday when residents reported a man acting suspiciously in the area.

One mother claimed on social media her children had been chased and nearly abducted by a middle-aged man with grey hair.

A police spokesman said: "It was reported that a man was on foot behaving in a suspicious way.

"Officers attended, spoke to the informant and carried out a search in the local area.

"No arrests were made and no offences so far recorded. Details of the call have been recorded pending any further information coming to light."
