Migrant activity sparks delays for freight at Channel Tunnel

Lorries are being forced to wait around an hour and a half after migrant activity overnight in Calais.

There is a long queue on the slip road and hard shoulder approaching the Channel Tunnel at J11a.

It follows a night of migrant activity at the Eurotunnel terminal in France.

Eurotunnel spokesman John Keefe said the French terminal entrance had recently become better and better protected.

That meant migrants were desperately trying to get through before it became impossible.

But both police and Eurotunnel said implementation of Operation Stack was not imminent.
