A multiple car crash on the M20 has brought gridlock.

The crash, involving at least three cars and a van, happened at about 8.15am on the M20 London bound near Junction 12, otherwise known as the Cheriton interchange.

One eye-witness said: "I drove through it, it doesn't look good.

"I saw a couple of ambulances rushing to the scene at about 8.25am."

Motorway lanes were closed westbound with drivers using the exit and entry slip roads.

It reopened at 9.20am.

Highways England tweeted:"The #M20 wesbound / London bound is now fully open at J12. No delays."

"@kentpoliceroads are on scene and are traffic officers are making to assist."
