Kent Police hunt for cannabis growers following raid discovers 66 plants in Sandgate High Street between Folkestone and Hythe

Officers are hunting for suspects responsible for growing cannabis in Sandgate after finding 66 plants in a raid at the weekend.

Police found the plants in Sandgate High Street while they were in the area on "an unrelated matter" on Saturday, a spokesman confirmed.

However, the property was unoccupied at the time police entered the building and found the plants along with equipment used to cultivate the drug.

Officers returned to the premises again on Sunday to carry out further inquiries.

The spokesman for Kent Police added: "A police investigation is underway after officers found 66 cannabis plants in a property in Sandgate High Street.

"All were at various stages of growth. Officers also seized a significant amount of growing equipment such as heat lamps and irrigation systems."

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
