Lorry sheds huge chunk of metal at Junction 13 of the M20 in Folkestone

A lorry shed its load on a busy slip road, causing a huge piece of metal to block the carriageway.

The incident happened at junction 13 on the A20 east-bound slip onto the M20, at Folkestone at about 9.30am this morning.

Highways England workers closed the road until around midday, when the object - said to be part of a crane - was cleared from the road.

This image shows the huge chunk of metal in the left-hand carriageway with highways officers contemplating their next move.

Highways England tweeted just after midday: "#A20 EB entry at #M20 J13 in #Kent, now fully open, large (4 tonne) part from a crane has been recovered. No delays."
