Shoplifting case - suspect seen in Watkin Road, Folkestone and arrested in St John's Road

Wireless headphones were seized after police caught up with a man today in a suspected shoplifting case.

Officers from the Shepway Community Policing Team were on patrol when they noticed the suspect acting suspiciously in Watkin Road, Folkestone, just before midday today (Thursday).

A Kent Police spokesman said: "The man left the area but was pursued on foot by police to St John’s Church Road where he was searched and arrested on suspicion of theft.

"Several sets of headphones, a power bank and ink cartridges were seized."

The suspect, aged 35, is also being investigated in connection with the theft of two shavers from a pharmacy in the town's Sandgate Road on Tuesday, February 13.

He remains in police custody and enquiries are ongoing.
