Police charge Erfanullah Ghazi, 27, with GBH following assault in Tontine Street, Folkestone

A man is due in court today following a serious assault in Folkestone on Christmas Eve.

Police were called to Tontine Street just before 6.55pm on Wednesday after receiving reports of an assault on a man in his 30s.

The victim was taken to a London hospital but police say his injuries were not life threatening.

Erfanullah Ghazi, 27, of Victoria Road, Folkestone, has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and threatening a person with a bladed or sharply pointed article in a public place.

He is due to appear before Canterbury Magistrates' Court, sitting at Dover, today.
