Henry Bolton quits Ukip after being ousted as leader

The former leader of Ukip has quit the party.

Henry Bolton, who is based in Folkestone, lost a vote of no confidence from party members at the weekend and was sacked from the job.

Now it appears he has decided to walk away from the party altogether. At the same time, he has got back together with his partner, model Jo Marney.

His exit from the party follows resignations from a number of current and former Ukip councillors in the county.

Interim leader Gerard Batten confirmed news he had left the party today saying it would "draw a line under a sad period for Ukip".

He added: "It will allow us to concentrate on our core duty of representing the millions that have voted for us, and the 17.4 million whose decision in the Referendum is being betrayed by a political class, especially the leadership of both the Conservatives and Labour."

Mr Bolton faced criticism from the party over his relationship with Maidstone model Jo Marney, who went to Canterbury Christ Church University.

She faced criticism over a series of racist texts which were leaked and included a claim that the Royal Family would be tainted by Prince Harry’s marriage to Megan Markle.

Mr Bolton was approached for a comment but could not be contacted.
