Burglaries at pubs in Kingsdown, Folkestone, Finglesham, Wingham and Temple Ewell linked by police

A spate of burglaries at pubs across east Kent could be linked police have said, after two more incidents last night.

Detectives investigating previously reported break-ins in flats above pubs are now appealing to locate suspects in connection with five offences overall.

The latest incidents took place at pubs in Kingsdown, near Deal, and in Folkestone yesterday when intruders climbed on to flat roofs and through first floor windows.

Officers were already investigating incidents at premises in Finglesham, Wingham and Temple Ewell.

Police were called to an attempted burglary at the King's Head in Upper Street in Kingsdown last night.

It reportedly took place between 8.30pm and 8.53pm and the two men were seen fleeing the scene in a white car.

The men were described as white, about 5ft 7ins, of medium build and were wearing black trousers and black hoodies.

An hour later a burglary was reported at The Nailbox in Coolinge Lane in Folkestone.

The intruder forced open an upstairs window before stealing a plastic box containing cash.

Det Sgt Matt Smith said he believes the latest offences are connected to the earlier three.

He said: "On all five occasions offenders have climbed onto flat roofs at the back of the pubs and have gained access or tried to gain access through upstairs windows.

"The two men who were disturbed at the pub in Kingsdown are believed to have driven off in a small white car, possibly a Peugeot or a Ford.

"We urge anyone who recognises the descriptions of the men or the car, or has any information about the burglaries, to contact us."
