New Dover Road in Capel-le-Ferne closed after bus crash

A main road in Capel-le-Ferne was shut after a double decker bus collided with an Audi then smashed into a wall surrounding a pub car park.

The smash happened in New Dover Road at around 2.30pm - the driver of the Audi has suffered serious, but non life-threatening injuries.

Emergency crews including police, firefighters and paramedics are at the scene, and the air ambulance was called.

The bus driver is thought to have suffered minor injuries in the crash and is said to be "badly shaken."

A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesman said: "Fire crews were called to an incident involving a car and double decker bus that had collided into a wall surrounding a pub car park.

"A man in the car was trapped by his injuries. Firefighters stabilised the bus and used hydraulic cutting equipment to release the casualty into the care of the ambulance service."

The road is shut in both directions at Crete Road East, near the Valiant Sailor pub.

Fire crews cut free a man in who was trapped in the car by his injuries. Firefighters say they stabilised the bus and used hydraulic cutting equipment to release the man into the care of the ambulance service.

Traffic returned to normal by 6.30pm.
