Two suspected illegal immigrants detained by police in Folkestone harbour after lorry driver calls Kent Police

Two suspected illegal immigrants were detained in Folkestone yesterday.

A lorry driver discovered two men in the back of his HGV when he parked up at the truck stop in Folkestone Harbour at 10am on Saturday.

The driver of the foreign registered lorry alerted Kent Police who attended the scene after he reported he believed they were travelling illegally.

The two men were later led away by officers after inquiries were made at the scene.

A police spokesman confirmed the incident adding that Dover Immigration had been called and that the UKBA (UK Border Agency) are now leading the investigation.

It comes after another man was killed on the M25 in Hertfordshire when he fell beneath the wheels of a lorry he was clinging to which had entered the country at Folkestone's Channel Tunnel terminal.
