Terror suspect bailed by police after Folkestone arrest

A 42-year-old arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences has been released under investigation.

The man was arrested in Folkestone just before 1am yesterday, as he arrived into the UK from France on a coach.

His arrest under section 5 of the Terrorism Act, 2006, formed part of an investigation by the Met's Counter Terrorism Command.

It related to the Syrian conflict, police said.

Eurotunnel confirmed yesterday that a man was arrested by police at their terminal in the town, off the M20.

The suspect was detained under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984, and taken to a police station in Kent.

He was then released under investigation later on Tuesday.
