Gary Stannage and Michael Atkinson deny burgling Damian Collins' office in Folkestone

Two men will go on trial later this year accused of breaking into the Folkestone offices of MP Damian Collins.

Gary Stannage, 45, of Broadmead Road in Folkestone and Michael Atkinson, 36, of no fixed address, both appeared at Canterbury Crown Court and denied two burglary charges.

They relate to burglary with intent to steal at Mr Collins' office and stealing a laptop, a purse £120, hair straighteners, cheque book and keys from the Vanity Flair spa above it in West Cliff Gardens in Folkestone between August 7 to 8 last year.

Atkinson, who is remanded in custody, appeared by prison video link and Stannage arrived for the hearing without legal representation.

He told Judge Heather Norton he wanted to plead not guilty and was urged to get a lawyer before the trial, which is expected to begin in May.
