A 15-year-old has been arrested in connection with two robberies on women in Folkestone.

He was arrested on suspicion of robbery and theft and has been released on bail until January 15 next year.

A 79-year-old lady’s bag was taken in an alleyway on Monday just minutes after she had withdrawn her pension from the Black Bull Road post office.

The victim was walking home along the alley between Mead Road and Moat Farm Road just after 9am when she was pushed her over and the boy took her bag which had cash inside. She hurt her elbow on a wall but did not need hospital treatment.

A witness chased after the robber on his bike and found the bag but the money was missing.

The suspect was described as aged between 15 and 19, slim build, mousey hair and wearing a blue hooded top and dark trousers.

In an earlier robbery on Tuesday, September 24, a 53-year-old woman was walking along Mead Road towards Black Bull Road at 3.45pm pulling a wheeled shopping bag behind her.

A man - who is described as aged about 16 or 17, 5ft 5ins tall with blonde hair and wearing a grey hooded top and trousers - opened the trolley and grabbed an envelope with cash inside.
