Folkestone Invicta manager Neil Cugley says their form at the Fullicks Stadium will be key to their fortunes in the Ryman League Premier Division

After securing a new signing and seeing Invicta improve their impressive points haul at the Fullicks Stadium, Folkestone manager Neil Cugley is looking forward to a well-earned day off.

Invicta's fifth successive home game produced a 1-0 win over against Billericay Town on Tuesday making it seven wins in 11 home games in the Ryman League, Premier Division.

They have earned a further three draws and suffered just one defeat – 1-0 to Needham Market in August – making their record the best in the league. Tuesday's win lifted them up to seventh, and they are just three points off the play-off places, with a game in hand.

Cugley said: “I didn’t know we had the best home record in the division but we always said our home form was going to be important if we were to stablilise in this league.

“If we were able to do that then you look to make your away form better and I think we have done that. We are more organised away from home.”

One of the main reasons has been the form of former Gillingham defender Callum Davies, who made his three-month loan move from Maidstone permanent this week, with the aid of a donation from the supporters’ club.

Cugley thrashed out the deal at the Gallagher Stadium and said: “He’s been playing well for us and I am pleased we have managed to sign him permanently.”

Invicta’s FA Trophy exit against North Leigh leaves them without a fixture this weekend and Cugley said: “It’s nice to give the players a break. We’ll do our training on Thursday night and give them the Saturday off.”
