Folkestone Invicta issue rallying call to town in effort to boost crowd for visit of Sittingbourne

Folkestone Invicta are aiming to attract a crowd of over 400 for the Ryman League, Division 1 South home game against Sittingbourne on Saturday.

The club are challenging the town's football public to see for themselves what the success story at the Fullicks Stadium is all about.

And with only four league defeats all season – just one of them at home - they want the crowd to match the performance of the team out on the pitch.

Director Cliff Egan said: “We are now 14 points clear at the top of the Ryman South with a game in hand on our nearest rivals and now is the time to introduce more people to the success that is happening at the club this season.

"If we want to become a big player in non-league football we need to attract more people through the gates.

“We have a magnificent loyal following of supporters which has seen an increase in the average gate at the Fullicks which has now risen just under 400."

He added: "We have fixed costs on a matchday and a figure of 400 is the ceiling where our income increases significantly.

“Our players have delivered so far in terms of result this season. And with 13 games to go we believe that eight wins will secure the league title."

Meanwhile Invicta are warning everyone attending the game to be aware of the parking restrictions in place, especially inside the neighbouring Cheriton Road Sportsground,

The club understands that some 65 drivers received parking tickets last weekend for incorrect parking near the Three Hills Sports complex.

Company secretary Neil Pilcher said: “Shepway Council told us a couple of months ago they were monitoring this situation closely and would clamp down on vehicles not parked correctly."

Meanwhile winger Jon Pilbeam has joined FA Vase quarter-finalists Ashford United on a dual-registration terms.
