Folkestone Invicta boss Neil Cugley will take a second look at Patrick Nzuzi when pre-season training starts this week

Neil Cugley expects to have a new signing in his squad when Folkestone start pre-season training this week.

The Invicta boss is taking a second look at Patrick Nzuzi, a right-sided player who featured briefly last season.

Nzuzi came through Newcastle United’s academy before playing for Limerick in the League of Ireland and later moving to study in Kent.

He will be involved when the Invicta players reconvene for the first time since their championship-winning 2015/16 campaign.

Cugley said: "I’m looking forward to seeing the lads. I enjoyed their company last year, they did the club proud and I can’t wait to see them again.

"There will be a couple of new faces in there. I’m talking to one player at the end of the week and hopefully he’ll be training with us and will sign.

"Patrick wasn’t bad (last season) so I’m going to have a look at him again.

"It was the wrong time, he came after pre-season and we were doing all right. We never seemed to have a game where we were 3-0 up and could chuck him on. We always seemed to be winning 1-0.

"He went off and played a few games for Canterbury at the end of last year.

"He plays right-back, wing-back or right midfield, he’s got a lot of pace and he still lives in Folkestone."
