Sibton Park beaten by Sessay in the Davidstow National Village Cup final at Lord's Cricket Ground

Sibton Park’s big day out at Lord’s ended in defeat against Yorkshire side Sessay.

The Lyminge side had embarked on a memorable run to the Davidstow National Village Cup final but Sessay’s batting line-up proved too strong for them on Sunday at the home of cricket.

Simon Mason smashed 138 off 110 balls, including 19 fours and three sixes, as Sessay piled on 307-5 in their 40 overs.

Nick Harrison weighed in with a quick 69 as Sibton’s bowlers went to all corners of the
ground.

Already facing an uphill task, Park lost three wickets early in their innings but the arrival of Ben Allon in the middle livened things up.

Allon hit seven sixes during a 54-ball stay at the crease, during which time he scored 70.

But that was the only score of note in a Sibton innings which came to an end when they were all out for 188.
