Folkestone Invicta boss Neil Cugley believes there could yet be a four-way race for the title in Ryman League Division 1 South.

Cugley’s side are fourth in the table after a 2-1 win at home to Worthing on Tuesday night. They're four points away from leaders Faversham and two behind Merstham and Burgess Hill.

Invicta entertain fifth-placed Whyteleafe on Saturday, knowing victory would move them eight points clear of the Surrey side and keep them right in the championship chase.

Speaking after Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Faversham, Cugley said: "I think we’ll both be up there, with Burgess Hill and Merstham. I think those four will all stay in the play-off places.

"There’s not loads of money in the league this year and there are no bigger clubs like Bognor, Peacehaven, Maidstone or Dulwich like there have been in the past. Now teams can beat everybody, unless somebody gets a load of money from somewhere.

"It makes for a better league. Peacehaven walked away with it last season and Maidstone and Dulwich did a little bit the year before. It’s always hard to compete with those big clubs and you’re only going for the play-offs.

"Now, if anybody puts a run together, they could win it."
