Folkestone Invicta boss Neil Cugley considering bringing in new faces at the Fullicks Stadium
Folkestone boss Neil Cugley is considering shaking up his squad in the wake of Saturday’s shock defeat to struggling Chipstead.
Victory over leaders Leatherhead on November 30 had left Cugley talking up his team’s title chances in Ryman League Division 1 South.
But when they crashed 4-3 against the lowly Chips just seven days later, the manager admitted he was starting to question that assessment.
Cugley said: "It was exactly the same side that played the week before. They took all the plaudits when I said how good a side this was, so this was disappointing.
"We’re not going to win every game but I do expect a certain level of consistency from people.
"Inconsistent players make inconsistent teams. As many as six or seven players played poorly for me on Saturday.
"Are those the same players I know?
"Maybe I need to look to improve the squad a little bit. I’ll use the budget I’ve got. After the next two or three games, I’ll sit down with the senior people and have a little discussion."
Folkestone returned to winning ways on Tuesday night when they beat Three Bridges 4-2 at the Fullicks Stadium.
That result lifted them to seventh, two points outside the play-offs.
