Firefighters tackled a fire of 50 tonnes of baled straw yesterday evening.

The hay was alight on New Barn Road in Southfleet.

They were called just after 3pm and remained on the site until late into the evening.

Firefighters used farm machinery to help break up the haystack.

Two jets were in use.

The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.
